JAN PEYTON ROWLEY Burlingame, CA 94010
To Whom It May Concern:
I hired Mumtaz Anwar in 1999 to assist me in the task of redesigning my back yard. I own an 85-year-old house -- small stucco bungalow on a corner lot in Burlingame, CA, approximately 15 miles south of San Francisco. I had owned the house about 3 years at that time and had worked very hard to refurbish the front lawn, taking those full 3 years to do the work myself.
However, the back yard presented some different kind of design challenges, much beyond my own capabilities. I knew Mumtaz through a dear friend of mine, not the landscape architect world, but I instinctively knew he would be able to help me.
Mumtaz was delighted to take on the design project and went to work immediately. Within a very short period of time, he had come up with drawings of how the back yard could look with a new patio, overhead, and plantings. It was exquisite and a design of which I used a significant portion when I eventually had the work completed. He had a really good feel about my back yard and how a new design would fit into the existing area. His plan to use a combination of cement, brick, wood, and plantings was balanced, artistic and carefully thought through. Later, when I hired workers to implement the plan, everyone seemed to be at ease in working with his drawings, and we made only slight modifications to his original design, mostly due to cost.
Mumtaz is an extremely conscientious and talented designer. His work ethic is strong, he has excellent follow-through and is an unusually pleasant person to work with. I would, without any hesitation, recommend him for any architectural design work, whether it is a remodel, original design or landscape design.
Sincerely,
